The english word religion is different than religion in other languages. Rituals in ancient religion usually involve sacrifice (abraham and his son). Death and afterlife is a major part in many religions, and give people meaning and morals to. They cannot be proved, but are important for religious traditions. In judaism for example, there is orthodox and reform. There is contestation in religions, meaning differences and debates. It is monotheistic, meaning they believe in one god. God demanded monolatry, meaning god asked them to exclusively worship him. Revelations are messages from god given to prophets throughout time. The torah can be called the hebrew bible or the 5 books of moses -> revelation. Revelations come at a particular point in time. The torah contains 5 books: genesis, exodus, leviticus, numbers and deuteronomy. The pentateuch is another word for the 5 books of moses. Tnk is an acronym for torah, nevi"im (prophets) and ketuvim (writings).
