PSYC58H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Yonge-Dundas Square, False Alarm, Temporoparietal Junction
Document Summary
Eyes very tire and dry for the constant focus of attention. Lot easier compare to the other experiments. Automatic reaction train in the experiment: zoom out by looking at the blink of the square & + . Shift of attention is different for everyone. Stare at the center of the screen, shift attention to the red oval. Hit a button/desk when stimuli are shown. Spatial cueing of visual attention base on two types: orienting, detection. The central problem in the study of attention is how the brain is able to select some information at the expense of other information: attention is to focus on one thing, and neglect the others. Why do we need attention: too much information to process in fine details. We are constantly surrounded by more information than we can handle and comprehend at any given time. And our brain being limited tissue we need to know what to focus on first.
