Neurobehavioral disability: a complex, subtle, pervasive constellation of cognitive-behavioral changes that typify post-acute tbi. Physical aggression: environmental aggression against others, objects, or self: most problematic. Set patients up to be successful: its treatment interventions strive to counter contingencies that work to maintain challenging behavior (based on learning theory) Transferred to neurobehavioral rehab quickly; do not have chance to develop bad habits: psychosocial emphasis vs. solely medical recovery, concentrates on organic behavior disorder, benefits from a structured environment, highlights measurable social, behavioral and functional gains. Challenging behaviors that are interfering with rehab and/or recovery. *somebody that nobody else wants: patients refusal of care, patients with bad habits; undo them. Reduce challenging behavior impeding progress: not adhering to treatment regime. Increase opportunities for traditional rehab: enables them to actually go to traditional rehab; speech/language, physio etc. To maximize independence and promote access to community facilities.
