Extensional self (3 months): appears first and is the feeling of being distinct from all other things. Categorize self (2 year): self-awareness; ability to define themselves in age, gender, size. Most attention given to visual self-recognition. (rouge test) Recognize based off of pre-taped video of themselves. If they are able to say i or refer to themselves.
