Document Summary
In today"s global world, it is common for people to internalize more than one culture, speak more than one language, live in a multicultural community, and have ties to individuals whose nationality is different. The 3 major factors for this are globalization, cross-cultural marriage, and immigration. Globalization is the notion that there is interaction and integration among people and institutions of different nations. Globalization has been booming due to advancements in information technology and international business. Global civilization ! boundaries of a society are not defined spatially, but exist in terms of the connectedness between people. There are implications of this because some people want those spatial boundaries and want to protect their national identities (e. g. nationalists). Globalists however, see spatial boundaries as unnecessary and that people are connected in different ways beyond spatial boundaries. Second factor is cross cultural marriage: when parents are from two distinctly different cultures. As a result children are exposed to aspect of both cultures.
