Am i threatened: are you responding to me or to something about me, essentially where the model starts (point d) Involuntary responses: anxiety, disruption, vigilance: voluntary responses: coping with threat, blaming discrimination, limit social comparisons, disidentification, outcomes: self-esteem, performance, health. Involuntary responses: nervousness, anxiety, looked really afraid, voluntary responses, trying not to make eye contact, looking at the ground, outcomes, he made the flight, maybe he changes his mind about flying a lot. Stigma & self-esteem: stigmatized are disadvantaged economically & interpersonally, stigma should lead to lower self-esteem, right, reflected appraisals, self-fulfilling prophecies, wrong, stigmatized have the same or higher (!)
