The use of statistical methods to summarise the results of these studies is a statistical procedure for combining numerical data from multiple separate studies. A meta-analysis should only ever be conducted in the context of a systematic review. Quantitative procedures for combining the results of published studies to offer a statistical review of a specific research question. Takes the results of many studies (pool) and puts them together to see what findings are really coming out. Answers a defined research question by collecting and summarising all empirical evidence that fits pre-specified eligibility criteria.
