Document Summary
Our nervous system is how we capture the external information. Information -> sensory reception processes the info -> perception. Object recognition picks up perception and helps figure out what we"re looking at. Eye is designed to capture visual info and send it to part of the eye that turns it into neuro signal: where visual neurons are (retina) Requires more intense levels of light but can replenish their photopigments quickly. If we have more cones, more than half of the brain would be used for vision: blind spot: where the neuro signals come together. What the left eye doesn"t see, the right eye does. What the right eye doesn"t see, the left eye does. Allows visual system to make a guess about what"s in the blind spot. Big blind spot = big hole where you can"t see. Want it to be as small as possible. If retina is damaged, would not be able to pick up the visual information.
