Document Summary
Week 2 may 12 th , 2015. Rostral (or anterior): head end of four-legged animal. Caudal (or posterior): tail end of four-legged animal. Meninges: three layers of meninges provide protection: dura mater: fibrous, dense, thick protective layer attached to the skull, arachnoid membrane. Cerebrospinal fluid (csf): 120ml of csf in the brain. 300-500ml during changeover during the day: secreted in ventricles. Blockages in 3rd and 4th because they are smaller. Brain anatomy and plasticity hydrocephalus: hydrocephalus: a childhood disorder of excess fluid in the brain. Brain"s amazing ability to rebound after injury. While patients of this disorder experience compression and destruction of brain tissue early in life, many are bale to function normally later in life, after their brains have compensated for the loss.
