Document Summary

Perception and cognition is about our six senses and the impact they have on our mind. Important concepts and questions in modern psychology are rooted in ancient philosophy. Reality has to do with what we perceive. Everything changes and only this change matters for perception. The dualist view of the mind states that the mind is separate from the body. We can use physics to quantity the concepts in our mind. If you"re talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain. Plato"s the allegory of the cave : our conception of reality is dependent on information gathered by our senses. In his dialog, he writes our sense of reality as if we are born as prisoners chained to the back of a wall in a cave and we see shadows cast by a fire.
