PSYB45H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Inter-Rater Reliability
Document Summary
4 phases of behavior modification programs: screening/ intake. Determine level of target behavior prior to treatment intervention. Different assessment procedures for collecting baseline info: Indirect (ex. interviews, questionnaires, role-playing, client self-monitoring) Advantages: convenient, provide info about covert procedures. Experimental: examine factors that control + maintain problem behaviors. Design treatment program, apply program, and measure/monitor behavior regularly follow-up. Reactivity: simply tracking/ recording behavior can lead to behavior change. Topography: the specific movements involved in particular response. Need specific guidelines to help record aspects of topography. Frequency: # of instances in period of time; rate. Relative duration: length of time a behavior occurs within a specific period. Intensity: force of a response (ex. volume, speed) Stimulus control: the conditions under which a behavior occurs. Latency: amount of time between a stimulus and response. Refinement of one or more of the other characteristics. Continuous recording: recording every instance in a specified period. Only practical or feasible for certain types of behaviors.
