Document Summary
Week 7 june 22 nd , 2015. Operant conditioning: the modification of behavior by its consequences. Comparing respondent and operant conditioning: responses: Respondent: pairing of ns and us comes before the response. Operant: reinforcers occur after in operant conditioning: extinction: Respondent: presenting the cs without the us. Comparing css and sds: both produce responses that have been conditioned to them, but the conditioning procedures differ, different terminology: Sds evoke responses, and operant behaviors are emitted by individuals. Three components of emotions: bodily reactions one feels during the experience of emotion. Respondent (reflexive) conditioning principle components of emotion. E. g. , digestive, circulatory, respiratory systems: the way the emotion is outwardly expressed or disguised. Operant conditioning principle components of emotion: becoming aware of emotions and describing emotions. Reinforcers and aversive stimuli play a role in causing emotions: for example: Presentation of aversive stimuli leads to anxiety or fear. Withdrawal of aversive stimuli leads to relief.
