Assessment are important, everyone is different, patients can have many symptoms. We usually test : cognition, emotional, behavior, personality. Reliability and validity in assessment: reliability, test-retest reliability, alternate-form reliability, internal consistency reliability, validity, content validity, criterion validity, construct validity. For a measure to be scientific: it has to be valid and reliability. Test- retest: the degree to which you give a test you will get the same results on another test i. e )same results giving tests at different times i. q test. - sometimes its okay for the results to be different, memory test i whereas q test stable. Inter-rate reliability: two clinicians giving the same patient a test and both getting similar results. Alternate giving the test and two different times, equivalent tests (not the same each time) so patients don"t remember the answers average should be the same higher correlation the better. Internal- items on a test are related, a correlation between items.
