Document Summary

Behaviour genetics: heredity vs environment; looks at heritability factors; environment plays an important role: measured through twin studies (mz and dz) and adoption studies (study of parent vs adoptive-parent) Adoptive homes are more privileged (in one factor or another): lack homogeneity. Additive variability = male and female allele addition to determine offspring characteristics (combination of genes through addition) Configural variability = combination of genes to create a trait. Facial beauty: based on configuration of facial features. Klinefelter = xxy, males be more feminine and develop female characteristics. Trisomy 21 = extra 21 chromosome; big forehead and small chin, shaped differently eyes, flat nasal ridge, poor muscle tone, decelerated maturation of brain and body, 88% maternal 8% paternal; fix with gene therapy (replace faulty gene) Somatic cellular nuclear transmission (scnc) dolly cloning. Canalization = genetic restriction of a phenotype to a small number of outcomes (low amounts of possibilities)
