Attenuated symptoms looks like schizophrenia but not quite there. You know something is off but not acute phase :) E. g. acute episode in the guest lecture was catatonia , delusions were full blown. Acute stage the positive symptoms residual stage thoughts are still disorganized, very forgetful. ** symptoms get faded in later life schizophrenia is hetereogenic. Hospitalization got less and less in time. More likely to act on their delusions.
