Document Summary

Week 5: lecture #5: wednesday february 04 2015. Ipip-neo (goldberg, johnson, eber, hogan, ashton, cloninger, & gough, 2006) Opposite ends (e. g. nice to cool, submissive to dominant) Even though we use a single term to describe the relationship as a whole, we"re referring to the dimension @ either ends. The five factor statistically (fundamentally) independent of each other. Where you stand on one trait tells you nth about where you stand on other traits, little correlation. Neuroticism: facets & correlates: neo-pi-r facets, anxiety, angry hostility, depression, self-consciousness, impulsiveness, vulnerability, all have 6 factors, correlates of neuroticism, somatic complaints, negative affect. Doesn"t predict positive affect, has no real correlation w/ neuroticism. This is b/c over long period of time, positive and negative affect is not related, only related in brief time period. Over long period of time, negative affect predicted uniquely by neuroticism. Predicts health and relationship problems & somatic complaints. Jay is neurotic, doesn"t wanna party & etc.
