Ultrasociality: thousands (or millions) of individuals living together. We see groups everywhere: subjects made choice b/w many paintings & were divided into supporters of. The wave: there is a leader that wants to make a synchronized disciplined group, people started being aggressive against outgroups. Intergroup bias: prejudice emotional responses towards outgrpups, behaviours treat outgroups less well, cognitive beliefs of what others are like: stereortyping (negative &/ positive), and outgroup homogeneity. Intergroup attitudes: behavioural: discrimination is differential treatment due to group membership, cognitive: Stereotype is a generalization about a group that is seen as descriptive of all members of that group. Outgroup homogeneity: the tendency to see all outgroup members as alike ( they"re all the same ) Beliefs about minorities that are clearly bigoted and readily admitted. Blacks are lazy, jews are cheap its not acceptable now and days in many societies, other societies encourage them. Open expression of bigoted/racised views is now less common in some countries.
