Document Summary

Psya02 lecture 16 health psychology march 7th 2016. You, the individual, can do more for your own health and well-being than any doctor, any hospital, and drug, any exotic medical service . You make many choices that will affect how you feel and ultimately live, how long you live. However of course, genetics and environment also plays into it. There are things you can control, and things you cannot. When you are really ill, at the far end of the extremity, it can lead to premature death, whereas the other extreme end of the spectrum is optimal health that can lead to longer life spans. Biomedical models focus primarily on the absence of disease but does not necessarily look at whether you are well-roundedly fulfilling optimal health: the bio psychosocial model of health does look at all 3. Females tend to have longer life expectancy than males.
