This includes science -> "investing in science = investing in the future" People wanting to measure things that were difficult to measure or see and delve into different fields of science (things that hadn"t been discovered before) Hermann von helmholtz -> measuring speed of neural impulses (hand holding experiment) Ernst weber -> psychophysics and weight hand test (ratio of the two weights was constant; he always had to add 10% more for people to feel the weight difference) Psychophysics -> the notion that we can take same scientific process and imply it to the internal world of our minds.
