Document Summary
Eye doctor-when doctor changes lenses u(cid:374)til (cid:455)ou (cid:272)a(cid:374)"t tell differe(cid:374)(cid:272)e. We(cid:271)(cid:271)er"s technique was all about finding difference thresholds. But what we want to know is how sensitive our sensory systems are. Ex: when 2 single people come together, man holds woman into home. It must have a way to measure when conscious is aware. Set it up so it is very difficult, so person would feel like they are guessing. When stimulus is present, it is very faint so they are not sure. They are trying their best: correct rejection: saying no when nothing is presented. Reje(cid:272)ted idea that"s sti(cid:373)ulus was there and you were correct: hit: saying yes, when it was presented, miss: it (cid:449)as there a(cid:374)d (cid:455)ou did(cid:374)"t see it, false alarm: there is nothing there but you see it. Single detection theory (how well can someone detect signal) terminology (cid:862)yes(cid:863) (cid:862)no(cid:863) So far bias can still have effect, but it effects both hits and false alarms.
