Document Summary

Lecture 10: chisholm and pereboom libertarianism and hard indeterminism. Free will is compatible with determinism ~ ayer. If i wanted to act otherwise i could have. 1: my action was voluntary, nobody compelled me to chose as i did. There is no di erence between cases like these and any other deterministic actions. If something is caused, then it had to occur and nothing could have happened in its place. But the point is he could not have chosen to do otherwise ~ chisholm. Determinism = cant avoid any actions = not morally responsible. Genuine option what we think we are going to do, isn"t completely determined before hand. Moral responsibility = that event or state of a airs was brought about by some act of his, and the act was something that was in his power, either to perform or not to perform. Genuine option = act is not caused by something that is not the agent.
