Ethics investigate normative judgements about what behaviour is right or what ought to be done. It does not address what you should or should not believe; those are contained in religious codes. It is the study or norms and values concerning ideas of right and wrong, good and bad, as well as what we ought to do. Encyclopaedia of philosophy defines ethics in 3 ways: a general pattern or way of life", a set of rules of conduct or moral code" and. Inquiry about ways of life and rules of conduct. In the first we speak or buddhist or christian ethics; in second we speak of professional ethics and unethical behaviour; in third ethics is a branch of philosophy that is frequently given the special name of metaethics. We focus on the second as it relates to moral codes relating to human conduct and behaviour in a business setting.
