People use the term gender to refer to sex. People avoid using the word sex because they think it refers to intercourse. We are going to analyze the difference between: gender, sex and grammatical gender. Sex is more biological; what you have: what you have that makes you look like a man/woman. Gender is about what you do: socially constructed identity, assumptions based on gender based on sexuality. If you are straight or gay you are assumed to act a certain way: what you do in societ(cid:455) (cid:271)ased o(cid:374) (cid:449)hat (cid:455)ou(cid:859)(cid:396)e supposed to (cid:271)e -> gender roles. Grammatical gender: nouns in languages that have gender (like in french, others like english are gender neutral. Women with males: talk more aggressively, straightforward. Women with women: more polite, detailed, lengthened sentences, emotional. Guys with guys: curse, aggressive, sex dependent. Guys with girls: depends on relationship, relationship dependent. People try to base this on sex differences.
