Authoritarian regimes: the state prevents the society in from paricipaing in the decision making process; resorts to arbitrary violence, rarely held accountable. Basic human needs: food, water, shelter, clothing, health, and educaion. Bilateral aid/assistance: aid from a single donor country to a single recipient country, in contrast to mulilateral aid. Breton woods insituions: the breton woods insituions are the world bank, and the internaional. They were set up at a meeing of 43 countries in breton woods, usa in july 1944. Their aims were to help rebuild the shatered postwar economy and to promote internaional economic cooperaion. Capabiliies approach: the capability approach is an economic theory conceived in the 1980s as an approach to welfare economics. The core focus of the capability approach is on what individuals are able to do (i. e. , capable of). This is a method of understanding poverty and development.
