Document Summary

Endocrine system and hormones are a real determinant of human health. Cells only respond if they have the specific receptor for the hormone in question. Non-target cells are just cells without a specific receptor to a specific hormone. Some hormones are lipophobic and are not able to readily to pass through membrane they need the receptor. Knowing the nature of hormones helps us control the treatment of some diseases cancer. Steroid hormones are a little trickier to control when something goes wrong. Hormones are released: neural stimulus, hormonal stimulus, humoral stimulus. To control/treat disease we have to know what pathway its going through to circumvent abnormal release of hormones. Hormones that influence either positively or negatively the release of other hormone. Ghrh growth hormone release hormone: will increase the release of growth hormone. Ghih growth hormone inhibiting hormone: will inhibit the production of gh. This is hormonal stimulation of hormones: anterior pituitary--also called adenohypophysis.
