Discrepancies seen between individuals on the basis of factors such as income which can ultimately affect their health. Medicine"s widening scope: there is an increasing population as well as life expectancy, there is a change in the expectations surrounding medical care, people in poverty are not accessing healthcare system readily, costs of therapy and other innovations. Sickness: a socially and culturally held conception which influences how people react. Disease: a pathological process that may or may not produce symptoms. Natural history and clinical course: different phases occur within the onset and progression of disease, exposure to pathogen, biological onset, symptoms appearing, diagnosis, therapy and then outcomes, relapse can potentially occur as well. Public health: aims to promote health, prevent disease and prolong lifespan, involves many programs and services.
