These elements carried the body by 4 humors (bodily fluids: phlegm , yellow bile choler, secreted by liver, blood gall, secreted by kidneys and spleen, black bile gall, secreted by kidneys and spleen. Disease is a product of a disturbance in the bodily humours or from climate and weather effects: health = good balance of humours. Even chinese, indian-ayurvedic, and latin american they have this belief of an imbalance of cold and hot foods they adapted this from hippocrates. Public health concerns gave up a very long ago, especially after we became farmers. Public health concern is not just a concern of health, but sanitation. Key figure in the hisotircal development of epidemiology and public health.
