GGRB21H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Political Ecology, Integrated Geography, Environmental Health
Document Summary
The symmetrical approach: equal emphasis on physical and social science. Depends on what type of enviro geo you are dealing with. Different disciplines need to be brought in: difficult to achieve bc of specialisation and different research methods and assumptions. And so we are not able to agree on this approach. What are the most telling aspect of symmetrical approach. Bc it is not always possible to treat things equally. Asymmetrical approach actually happens: different things from one side are being stitch together with different things stitched together with the other side. The road is not linear it will get there but it will be stalled when ppl cut off the soft wood before the hard wood. Political ecology (10 mark question on explaining what this is) Ex. you have access to trees but you cant just cut them down.
