ENGB35H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Body Image, Extreme Makeover
Document Summary
Think back to your early life, your upbringing, and how those years might have set you on the path you"re on today. Body image is something i used to battle with ever since i learned about different bodies. I was about 8 years old when i noticed the difference between thin and thick. My family was the core factor of my struggling body image. Although it was out of good interest, it was disheartening to hear people that i loved and trusted watch me so closely, whether it was food or behaviour. This book resonates with me because i have learned to love my body when i stopped seeing myself solely just as a body. In the book she explains how for almost her entire life she has not been able to distance herself from her weight, and herself. She explains that loving yourself takes more than loving your weight, it takes strength to do that.
