Firestorms need triggers to form whereas dust storms can only form in arid regions. Dust storms need a very hot surface,whereas firestorms need a combustion of oxygen for it s chimney effect. Both can form convective cell. (firestorms need a trigger while dust storms need warm surface. ) Firestorms is the only storm that does not rely on latent heat. Open sea water(above 0 degrees surface temperatures. Air masses has to travel over the open sea water to form low pressure centres. Most occur in the labrador sea, because it is mostly open sea water. Hurricanes do not need air masses, whereas polar lows need cp or ca in particular. Polar lows dissipates quickly and sustains less(12-48 hrs), whereas hurricanes lasts longer. Both do not rely on latent heat. Firestorms has a formation of pyrocumuluos cloud, while dust storms just forms dust clouds. Levanter is an easterly wind flowing over the the mediterranean sea.
