Environment is everything that affects a living organism. Effects of environment on human health is so great: Genetic makeup increases exposure, susceptibility to an environmental risk factors. Genetic makeup and environmental factors are independent factors. This includes the study of both direct and the direct pathological effects of various: health hazards (but the chemicals in tobacco are) Health risks associated with chromosomal defect that causes down syndrome is not an environmental health hazard. Chemical (chemicals in air, water, soil and food) Biological (bacteria, viruses, parasites, allergens, animals such as bees and poisonous snakes. Physical (man-made: housing, transportation, land use, urban development) Radiation, fires, tornadoes, hurricanes etc. are natural disasters not physical. Social/behavioral hazards: poor dieting, smoking, drinking, poverty are not environmental.
