Cyclohexane ring is not flat you actually have it in a chair confirmation: 6 axial h atoms parallel to axis, 6 equatorial h atoms around the equator. You have to properly be able to position the angles of equatorial h atoms in red in the second part of picture shown above. The equatorial bonds need to be parallel to the bonds that connect the carbons. Equatorial h atoms are hard to draw compared to axial ones. Remember that carbons have a tetrahedral shape. In newman confirmation we were able to rotate the h atoms around the carbons. Here we cant rotate the h atoms around the carbon instead the whole ring changes its confirmation and we get axial h atoms to become into equatorial.
