41 views4 pages

Document Summary

In these species the females are big and fat and become big and produce many eggs: females that have wings and invest in flying aren"t big and so males will bring these species nuptial gifts. Indirect benefit because the offspring are taken care of. It"s a negative trait in survival because its easily noticeable and slows you down. If you weren"t an amazing male, you wouldn"t be able to survive with the elaborate tail. If you cant afford the trait, then you cant grow the tail, and its not something that cant be faked. If you have longer tail, then you had more mates or nests: sometimes the signals don"t signal anything at all, and the females are being deceived b these males. In some species, males that stay with females for parental care, makes a huge difference in if the offspring survive, in some species it doesn"t play much of a role.
