BIOC19H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Paraxial Mesoderm, Neural Tube, Intermediate Mesoderm
Document Summary
Skeletal muscle is made of muscle fiber cells. Tube coming out of the muscle fiber is the muscle fiber cell. Myofilaments are made of actin and myosin. Upper left formation of the neural tube. Early neural tube the middle dark part, the part of the neural tube that hasn"t been zipped up yet. Lower left neural tube is pinched off, below that is the notochord, and around that is the red area which is the mesoderm which will develop into a number of things. Starts zipping at the brain end, then at the posterior end. Paraxial mesoderm: closer to the neural tube, somites will form into the skeletal muscles. Axial mesoderm: under the neural tube. Have these 3 main division and are found on either side of the central neural tube. Somite maturation is at (by counting the number of somites) Different species of animals have different number of somites.
