Harness & uilize energy: life forms acquire energy from the environment and then use it to maintain their highly ordered state. Basically it means, in order to keep the outside from the inside it requires the use of energy. To maintain the cohesion of these life forms that are diferent internally from externally requires the use of energy. They have to extract their energy from their environment and then use it to maintain their internal cohesion or their disinciveness.
