Document Summary

Inheritance of sex linked traits is inherited differently between sexes. Some of our dna have different rules i. e. mitochondrial dna. The tips of the arms of the x and y chromosomes share a small region of homology (red). Almost none of the genes in the x chromosome have counterparts in the y chromosome. Between conception and birth the male fetus has a survival advantage. After birth and up to sexual maturity the female child has a advantage. Thomas morgan did this experiment out of pure curiosity. White eye trait never seen in females only in males. Then from that daughter to a son. Carrier females do not show the infection when it is x linked because they still have one more x. W+ is red eyed and w- is recessive white-eyed mutation in one x-chromosome. The pattern of inheritance of the white-eyed mutation = the pattern of inheritance of the x- chromosome.
