Social epidemiology: distribution of the social determinant of health in that society. Social determinant of health: specific aspect of societal condition that affects health or pathway by which societal condition affect health: gender, race, poverty. Gender: a social construct defined by conventions role and behavior determined by a particular culture. Sexism: inequitable gender relationship due to institutional and interpersonal practices. Impact on health: women tend to have poorer health outcome because of gender-based discrimination, lower income, inability to access quality health and child care, lack of control over reproductive health. A social construct referring to social group that often share a cultural heritage or ancestry. Racism: individual practice that creates or reinforce oppressive system of race relations: also reflect in internalized racism (those who stigmatized may accept these oppressive system) Impact on health: ethnic minority group tend to have poorer health outcome because of higher rates of un and under employment, lower income, lower education.
