Document Summary
Random error: occurs when a sample measurement is diferent from the true populaion value due to chance, can never be completely eliminated, but can be reduced with larger sample size, completely due to error. Major sources of random error: individuals biological variaion. Occurs when there is variaion in the actual enity being measured. Caused by dynamic nature of physiology (intra-individual) and by geneic diferences between individuals (inter-individual) Addressed by using repeated measures: sample error. Occurs when a small sample is not representaive of an enire populaion. Characterisics of included individuals are diferent than those of the populaion by chance. Addressed by increasing the size of the study there may not be a systemaic reason for the dif b/w people in the study & the populaion as a whole, may just have some diferences randomly: measurement error. Occurs when here i inaccuracy in the instrument of the person operaing the instrument.
