Definition: questioning the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality/truth and existence (the meaning of life) Philosophies are ways of understanding various aspects of human existence: systems of thoughts, sets of ideas or principles. Alfred north whitehead: no whole truths or truth . Frederic nietzsche: rejected the idea of universal truths. Our personal truths and beliefs are dependent of circumstance: we believe what we believe largely due ti the social context in which we were born. Our beliefs are based largely on our context and positive recognition. Aristotle: statements are true when they are consistent with reality: e. g. Questions about: especially morality and ethics, difficult to respond with an objective, singular. There are many valid, and reasonable answers: many of those answers are contradicting beliefs, while still remaining valid, beliefs inform and are informed by our world view. Modern: the truth is not necessarily required for having beliefs or understanding them.
