Everything is ideological, even map; it is a system of ideas and ideals; forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy; a set of beliefs which give an account of a social group or individual. Socially constructed; partial, selective; held consciously and unconsciously, either forcefully imposed or willingly subscribed to. Characterize and maintain power relationships (how power is distributed socially) Insider: ideological claims are true, natural and universally applicable; outsider: arbitrary, idiosyncratic and false. Framing reality, has partiality, even with seemingly objective material. Today is tomorrow"s history, and today"s hegemonic ideology is tomorrow"s dominant narrative of history. Leadership or dominance by one state or social group, preponderant in uence or authority over others; social, cultural, ideological, or economic in uence exerted by a dominant group. Within any culture or society, numerous ideologies coexist. What do you do? -sum up the hegemonic ideology of our society, it shapes the story, the narrative, of our lives.
