Parenting reproduces gender: when women parent they have different expectations than if a male parents, women are expected to put more effort, when males parent they receive praise (chris hemsworth article) but women are expected to this. Why are women expected to be the primary parents: men are thought to be the breadwinner, while women are supposed to stay at home. The idea of a public realm being masculine is widely accepted: they are seen as more active participants than women, they are seen more as citizens than women. By the removal of this hierarchy it created anxiety. Summary: nationhood is intertwined with family and with the gender roles of motherhood and fatherhood. Intersection of family/ mothering: with class/ race/ sexuality. It is bad because the culture of the school is not maintain.
