Dominant and subordinate groups can both at times be considered invisible/hyper visible. If we take an example of race the idea that racialized minorities become hypervisible of groups. Show how masculinity has been studied in different periods. Talcott parsons: normative case, complementary, heterosexual, binary, anxiety, when economic relations change those changing relationships would be associated with anxieties over men as subjects. Gay men were the non-normative case of masculinity: hegemonic masculinity.
