Origins of horizontal inequality: deeply entrenched cultural beliefs, values, and institutions based on the principles of gender essentialism. Asserts that males and females have characteristics that make them inherently suited for different kinds of work. Cultural perceptions about what is historically masculine behaviour and what is feminine almost unconsciously influences our decisions about the gender appropriateness of work. Each sex inherently suited for work needing these qualities . Is negatively correlated with delaying marriage and having kids: they stronger u feel that you should work less, the stronger you would consider delaying marriage. I believe that professions provide equal opportunities to succeed: more men strongly agree than women, but more men also strongly disagree than women.
