Social constructionism (berger and luckman 1966): people act in accordance to their construction of reality, not reality itself. Social construction of reality is explained by power relations. Oligarchy, ruled by elite few, the way you see the world determines how you act, people with a lot of power influence how people will see the world. Foucault on power as a mechanism of producing power: exclusively processual explanation (how?, no definition of power, but compatible with weberian definition, exercise of power creates knowledge and knowledge induces effects of power, colonization. Power is a dividing practice - division produce inequality (knezevic: hierarchy does), influenced the culture of the region, whoever creates curriculum decides what is worth knowing, acceptation of their definition of knowledge. It permeates social life, power exists everywhere and influences what happens to us, university structures power between teacher and student. Normalized, citizens accept to: be governed, govern others, govern selves.
