Religion and science are both belief systems: belief = any proposition thought to be true, belief system = a set of interrelated beliefs. Tend to be believed by more than one person. Science gives us a sense of regularity in the world, and provides us a sense of organization of our everyday life. Religion does the same thing and gives us a purpose, tells us right from wrong. Traditional typology: ecclesia e. g. , anglican church in england. Isla, is an acclesia in iran: churches e. g. , islam, christianity. Are not official religions of an entire society, but they are large and powerful religious groups.
