Public transportation (rail, air, transit: airports, etc. Relative to other nations, we have fewer police. If we look at crime rates, and look at police strength; there isnt really much a of a relationship. Crime rates are going down but the cost of police is going up o o o. The cost of policing is going up due to salaries. Police strategies (what do police do and how do they respond to things) (below) basic model of policing. Sense of police presence -> people act good, slow down driving , etc: not very effective. Rapid response: when something happens and you call the police to respond, doesn"t reduce crimes if the police are faster or slower; they are more likely to catch the person though but that"s it. Proactive policing would be building cases o (below) community policing. You are in that community and you understand the issues, problems, etc.
