Most of what they"re looking at is street crimes committed by the poor and ignore white colar crimes committed by wealthier. Theories reinforce image of crime sees certain groups of ppl as inferior b/c of these types. Given our societies prejudices it isn"t absurd to assume that poor people inevitably of crime commit petty crimes. Argues that cities generally take shap of 5 concentric rings/zzones. Middle = central business district (much of production happens here) Transition zone = key zone where recent immigrants come to live: once immigrants settle, they move to working class zone.
