Takes place at the level of ppl. Suggests that culture is created through these interactions between these ppl in the social world; cant create culture just by yourself. More emphasis on the interactions btwn the ppl. Looking-glass self sense of self develops by interpreting how others see us. Dramaturgical theory ppl"s daily interactions are performances and who we interact with are our audience ; we perform different performances depending on who we"re interacting with. Subculture the opposite of what"s going on in the larger culture; serve to bind subculture"s members. There are cultural objects, norms and behavious that are unique and relevant only to those within the subculture. Art was the product of creative geniuses. Becker was one of the first sociologists to collaborate support personnel for art.
