Sex- depends on whether you were born with male or female genitals and a genetic program that released male or female hormones to stimulate the development of the reproductive system. Gender- refers to the culturally and socially constructed differences between males and females found in the meanings, beliefs, and practices associated with masculinity and femininity. Gender identity- identification with, or sense of b to a particular ex (biologically, psychologically, socially) Gender identity: ex, could be in the middle of male/female. Gender ideologies: set of ideas about what constitutes appropriate masculine and feminine roles and behaviours. Heteronormativity: holds that heterosexuality is the normal sexual orientation, and assumes an alignment between biological sex, gender identity, and gender roles. Intersex: variation in sex characteristics that do not allow distinct sex identification. Transgendered: break social norms by defying rigid gender distinctions. Transsexual: alter their gender, believe they were born in the wrong body. Heterosexual: prefer partners of the opposite sex.
