Our social class is a structure that shapes/constrains the decisions that we make; pasted down through generations. Explore the tension between choice and family background. Stratification - the way society is organized in layers or strata. A society"s hierarchical ranking of people into social classes. Stratification and social inequality are talked about together because social inequality (the access you have, your demographics, your social class) contributes to stratification. The idea of a ranking and experiencing different things depending on your ranking. Patterns may seem varied comparing to the us but there are some similarities. Bottom 20% are lower class and top 20% are high class. High class is getting 10x more than most of the population. 70% of wealth belong the top 20% of high class families.
